Curls, Coats and Cinema

I finally tried the Curl Junkie Coffee-Coco Curl Cream and I LOVE it!!! My curls are beautiful, soft and more "spirally" than usual. I wanted to snap a pic of it to post, but I dropped my digital camera off for a cleaning at Best Buy yesterday and have yet to pick it up.

In other hair news - April finally broke down and bought a top-of the line flat iron. She topped my recommendation of the Solia brand (which I own) and went for the #1 ranked Sedu which is currently on sale (in Folica.com's Top 10 Flat Irons list). I told her to prepare for her big debut when I post the before and after pics on here after she breaks it in!

In fashion, I am obsessed with the season's latest trench coats in khaki and white. As a part of my "no-shopping" diet, I am limited in my selection to the stores where I have gift cards that have not been used - Macy's and Saks. Unfortunately, many the coats I am in love with are either WAY over the balance of my gift card, or, more commonly, not found at either these stores - but I'm determined to find a classic neutral-toned coat that will take me through spring, into summer...

And in a more reasonable price range (all under $200)...

On the movie tip - this weekend its all about TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES - The Movie!!! I know it sounds childish, but I must have watched the original at least 50 times when I was younger and I was in love with those super-powered turtles. I thought about going to rent the original so I could "review" the story but I figure most stores probably only have 1 copy and somebody who had the same idea already has it in their home DVD player.  My brother is going to be so jealous when he finds out that I went to see it without him!

*Edited*

I had to ad this to the post - I told the super cool comedian Roy Wood Jr that I was gonna post the info his upcoming taping of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson for all 7 of my blog readers to enjoy. Check him out this Tuesday March 27 late night at 12:35AM Eastern/Pacific. This dude is hilarious and keeps a very entertaining blog over at www.roywoodjr.com if you want to know more. Good luck Roy!!!!!

Movie Madness

This weekend is all about film watching for me! (You can throw in a little bit of reading too because my latest library book is due next week - gotta finish it!) I just finished watching the exciting movie "Spy Game" starring Robert Redford and Brad Pitt. I was definitely pleased by that recommendation from a friend and it put me on a Brad Pitt kick so I rented Babel to watch this weekend. On a lighter note, I also rented "Stranger Than Fiction" with Will Ferrell. I haven't read any of the reviews on that one Will Ferrell has definitely climbed his way towards the top of my Favorite Comedy Actors list. Lastly, on the movie front, if I can get the energy to go out and do something tomorrow, I may try to see Chris rock's new movie "I Think I Love my Wife" and stop by the Comedy Sportz show to use my free pass before it expires!!

My Comedy Sportz Improv class ended this past Tuesday with a bang! It was sooooo much fun. I wish I had a video to share with you, but I don't. So you'll just have to take my word for it - I was great! I've been thinking about doing another improv class... or maybe another French class to brush up on my language skills... I gotta hurry and find something to do for fun since I've decided to CURB MY SHOPPING! Yes, I'm really going to do it this time... at least I think I will. But its SOOOO HARD with all of the spring lines coming out! I keep seeing this electric blue Botkier "Lola" Small Satchel handbag in all of the fashion magazines and I'm not in any way happy about the $575 price tag... but its GORGEOUS!

And to all of the haters back on the November blog entry where I had on my festive navy sequined top - I hate to brag, but I like to consider myself a trendsetter! This Alice and Olivia baby doll dress looks like a longer version of my top... sequins for everyone!

Busch Gardens... and More Shopping

Last weekend I went to Busch Gardens for the first time in well over 10 years. I had a great time and took a few pics of the park and the rides. I hit up most of the roller coasters and watched a very interesting bird show. The only pics of me were taken by a 5 year old, so the angle is all messed up... but he tried! LOL

It was a quick trip so I didn't have time to check out the Tampa area shopping, but I have quite a few recent finds that I haven't posted yet.  Today I made a quick Macy's trip to celebrate the gift cards they sent out to all of the customers who donated to charity back in October. It was a great idea too - I came out with a few good basics that were well below regular price...

I got a basic white French Connection blouse for $18,  these House of Dereon jeans for $36...

...and my favorite purchase was this pair of French Connection Cropped Pants (above, right) for $0.00..... Yes! The tag said ZERO and I refused to pay a penny more. Too bad for them. LOL!!!!!!

(see actual tag at right, for those who don't believe me)

I never posted the dresses I bought in Las Vegas from the BCBG TO The Max store - they were each on sale for about $49. I'm keeping the first one and giving (selling) the second to Sharifa....

My item of the day is something that I would LOVE to come home to everyday... the creme de la creme of massage chairs, this baby is simply AWESOME... who needs a man when you can have the OSIM® iMedic® 380 Massage Chair???? Click the pic to find out more. Until next time - I'm out!

More snow????? Are you kidding me?

After being snowed in last weekend (and sitting in anticipation of a possible snow-day tomorrow) I am less than excited about . The weather people keep giving totally inaccurate snowfall accumulations and storm times that have me on the edge of my seat, glancing out the window behind me for any signs of danger. So now I'm sitting here killing time before my bus comes. Bus. That's how much I want to avoid the snow/sleet/ice that is predicted - I didn't even drive to the park-n-ride this morning, I took the long bus ride in. A friend of mine had the courage to ask me if I wanted to help him shovel his snow......*pause*.......HAHAHAHA!!! Are you kidding me???? Not only are my nails not strong enough for that type of manual labor, I could possibly break a sweat. LOL - I did offer to sit in my car and provide moral support while he worked it out but for some reason, my extension of kindness just wasn't good enough... go figure!! ;-)

For you southerners who have no idea what REAL snow looks like, these are my pictures from my days in Pennsylvania when 12" of snow overnight was near normal...

December 2003...

...again in February 2004...

SEEEE!!!!!! I told you!!! Those days are done... at least for now. As for the Zyban commercial I posted on my page, I am not a smoker but that's how I've been feeling lately... its one of my favs because I can feel that man's pain.

My item of the day takes me back into geek mode, mixed with fashion of course! My search for a laptop took me all over the net and after finding that the hottest notebooks available were all WAY out of my price range I gave up, but not without bringing the info back to you...

The in PINK - Perfect for the prissy chick in me

...then there is the tom-boy inside who loves the rugged case of the ...

...and those of you who've known me forever might remember me as the pre-teen girl with posters of the UofM Fab Five, Jodeci and The Boys all surrounding a huge Lamborghini poster - thus the Asus Lamborghini VX-1 is a dream come true for me...

...but the icing on the cake goes to the notebook that is not only your business partner, but every girl's BEST FRIEND - laptop. FIVE carats of VVS quality diamonds set in white gold!! Can you believe that??? I hear it runs about $100k... but the Ego Tulip base model, at $5k, is still really nice and comes with interchangeable leather skins that make it as easy on the eyes as a regular handbag! The Love edition would have made a much better Valentine's Day gift than the invisible present I got this year...
